Have you checked out http://www.Staff.com ? This is another site for work from home jobs. It is similar to oDesk but for full time work only.Employers who are seeking to outsource their jobs can choose from the pool of talented staff, while jobseekers can look for opportunities here.

  2. Thanks for the heads up about Odesk. I haven’t used this service, but I’ve used similar websites with good success for translation and audio transcription. My orders were completed in a timely fashion and I saved a ton of money versus going a more traditional route for the projects. Of course, with sites like this, it all depends on the quality of the individual contractor. I suggest placing one or two small orders first before submitting anything sizable.

  3. I don’t understand about how the third cons listed in your post about the work screenshots that are sent to the employer is an invasion of their privacy. What kind of privacy invasion is that?

  4. I wish to make extra money online. I hope you can do post like this again in future. Is it safe to deal on this website? So far I only register to Fiverr. I don’t dare to try on any microjobs website like this yet.

  5. Thanks, I just signed up. It looks like Fiverr but more professional. I will try my best to be a better freelancer.

  6. I thought I will be getting 100% of the price I’ve asked for. I thought the employer will pay for the fees. Thank you for this information. I didn’t know that they will charge 10% from withdrawal. I should revise my price.

  7. I did sign up on odesk before as contractor, however, I am not quite sure how to use it. I have to rate my time hourly. I wonder why because I am offering jobs per contract. I do hope to learn about it more on this website. Thank you for posting.

      Hi emily,

There are video tutorials for contractors to learn how to use the system and to get best results. I know that the more work you have done with positive feedback the more you’ll stay busy.

  8. I actually registered as a freelancer at Odesk last week, after doing a freelance job for an employer who had contracted me via another site.

The employer suggested that I registered there, as they often contract people via Odesk and he would find it much easier if he found me there, for future projects he wants go give me. And thought, I have nothing to lose, have I? And so I signed up!

I must say I have not had time yet to complete any tests, as have been a bit busy with other work. But will try to get round to doing it in the next few days, as this will complete my profile and increase my chances of being contracted.

I really like their interface and, to be honest, I do not mind the clock monitoring (despite privacy issues) as I have nothing to hide. If I was working in an office, I would have people looking behind my back…

At the end of the day, the fact that they may be monitoring is no big deal, I still get to work in my pyjamas and Odesk or the employer won’t have a clue about that :-)
